Charlie Diemer photoABOUT THE AUTHOR
Charlie Diemer grew up in Osseo, Minnesota. and attended DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis. He received a BA degree from the University of Minnesota with a major in speech communications. Charlie was brilliant at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. Well, brilliant may be an exaggeration; he graduated!

While going to law school, he worked as a law clerk at the Dakota County Attorneys Office in Hastings, Minnesota. That's when Charlie married his wife Judy and they have been together over 35 years. After graduation he was hired as an Assistant County Attorney and worked there his entire legal career. The last 12 years he served as Chief Deputy under Jim Backstrom.

Charlie had an amazing legal career. He was creative and newsworthy. He successfully prosecuted a politician for lying during a political campaign. In another case, according to the Court of Appeals, he was so persuasive that he got a jury of 12 to convict without any evidence! The man was released from prison and sadly, later murdered his mother. Charlie wasn’t afraid of controversy. A judge tried to do an end run around the Minnesota Constitution which provides that a judge stand for election every six years. Charlie sued the Governor before the Minnesota Supreme Court and ultimately his position prevailed.

He introduced Courtrooms to Classrooms to the Hastings Middle School. The 8th graders came into a real courtroom and conducted a trial, usually presided over by a real judge.

Charlie learned to downhill ski in college and has skied in Colorado every year since 1971. He takes it easier now that he has a metal hip replacement. Some years ago, Judy talked him into going around the world in eighty days and taking a tenting safari to see gorillas in Africa.

He has written everything from legal briefs to press releases to newspaper and magazine articles. It took him 2-1/2 years to write and edit PEARL OF TAO and he would love to have your reaction and thoughts about the book. Just click the PEARL OF TAO Reviews/Blog link to join the conversation.
