FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do the pearl diving women sometimes called Amas really exist?
Yes. They have been free diving for pearls for thousands of years at Pearl Island near Nagoya, Japan. Unfortunately, their numbers are shrinking. While pearl diving they wear long flowing white robes and head dresses. They do appear angelic.
The ability to track what the Amas did back centuries ago is difficult, so their part in creating The Pearl of Tao is difficult to document.
Charlie created their regimented, martial arts abilities, but they are in excellent condition in order to accomplish their unusual feats of pearl diving.
Does Lovers Key exist?
Yes. The island exists as described in the book. The restaurant named Flippers exists, however the mansion is fictional. All of the Lovers Key shoreline that faces the Gulf of Mexico is a state park.
What about yellow alligators and bears in Florida?
Yes. The book is factual about the existence of yellow alligators and bears in Florida. Obviously, Charlie’s imagination created the term golden gator to describe the yellow gator. The term golden gator has a great rhythm.
What about The Peacekeeper?
Yes, there is such a vehicle. A number of law enforcement agencies have obtained this vehicle from the U.S. military because it is outdated for combat.
How accurate is the book about describing The Pearl?
It is as accurate as recorded history allows. There is a certain amount of conflict between historians and experts about The Pearl and it’s owners.
What is Charlie working on next?
The next book will be based in Minnesota and feature Frank, Granderson and Stephanie. You can be assured there will be other colorful characters in it.
